Central Florida Blood Bank Automation Upgrade System Completed
3/5/2008
ORLANDO, FL – Orlando-based Mechanical Services, Inc. (MSI) completed a vital Automation System upgrade for the Central Florida Blood Bank enabling it to host Burnham Institute’s Pilot Laboratory until Burnham’s new facility is completed at Lake Nona Medical Research Center in 2009. As part of the significant modifications necessary to support Burnham, the Blood Bank needed to upgrade its late ‘80s vintage Trane Tracer 100 Building Automation System. MSI designed the Automation upgrade utilizing the latest Trane Summit hardware, and developed a new series of graphics for the Blood Bank’s staff which improves energy management for the eight air handling systems and two Trane chillers in the main Blood Bank building located at 5201 Raymond Street in Orlando. In addition, a high-tech Class 10 Tissue Bank Clean Room designed and constructed by MSI incorporates Trane Summit controls and is now integrated with the main building to provide central operations of mission-critical systems as well as a web server which allows global access. MSI also supplied and installed separate air handling systems, Trane Summit automation interface and integration with Phoenix Hood and Strobic Air exhaust controls in the Burnham Pilot Laboratory facility.
