Case Studies

"We have been experiencing unusual circumstances and operations of the HVAC equipment in our Palm Coast location. The major tenant of the building is The Ginn Company.

The situation was created by another HVAC contractor, who has failed in their initial installations of the equipment and their customer service response. Your staff has stepped into this situation and has performed each time we have requested assistance. It is a pleasure to work with professionals.

Please pass along our company’s gratitude for a job well done to your staff!"

Sincerely,

Clay R. Seay

Case Study - Winter Park Memorial Hospital - Surgery Air Handling Unit Upgrades

When Florida Hospital Winter Park determined that the HVAC system serving their operating rooms required replacement, they also realized this would not be just a regular project. The existing system, which had reached its useful operating life, would have to be removed along with virtually all of the air distribution and controls. Then, a new system would have to be installed, commissioned, and inspected by AHCA before surgeries could commence. Because the hospital serves the surrounding community, downtime had to be kept to an absolute minimum. Florida Hospital executives set the goal of completing replacement in four days.
MSI was awarded the project based on our commitment to meet the schedule and immediately assigned the task to our Fast-Track™ team. They developed a project plan that entailed extensive planning with the owner, coordinated the prefabrication of major structural components, met with AHCA officials and hospital representatives early in the process to make sure that as key milestones were met during the Memorial Day weekend, inspections could be made and the 60,000 cfm system could be installed and commissioned on time.

Over 100 MSI personnel including pipe fitters, sheet metal and insulation craftsmen, service and test and balance technicians worked ‘round the clock shifts during a 96 hour push. Our fabrication facility ran concurrent shifts to assure the availability of custom components on short notice. The AHCA inspections occurred on time and the project passed with no exceptions. The hospital was conducting surgeries the morning of the forth day.

MSI was awarded the 2003 Eagle Award (Best in Class) for this project by Associated Builders and Contractors
